Muchas Gracias for coming to our blog! I just KNOW you are going to LURVE this Mexican Fiesta Pinata Gift box idea, with it’s cute (did I mention free?) editable gift label. You can use the idea for any-sized box you would like, the materials are really affordable too.

As a party favor, a Cinco de Mayo treat, a teacher’s gift – this just works!

So, how do you do it

  1. Choose Your Box

Start by deciding what you want to put inside your Piñata gift box as this will determine what size box you want to get. We kept these quite small at around 4″ x 2.5″, for some brightly colored candy covered chocolate balls. But whether you are giving a birthday party gift of jewelery, or maybe a store voucher, whatever your gift or favor, presenting it in a little box decorated like THIS is a winner!

      2. Crepe Paper Streamers

Once you have your box, you will need around 8 different colored rolls of crepe paper streamers. We loved the way these colors worked together in the order we did them, so if you love this look, go for these colors and order. For a more stylized look you could choose two or three colors in the same shade for an ombre style, or two contrasting colors to alternate, such as black and white.

       3. Cutting

Then, well you measure the circumference of the box and cut the streamers to the appropriate length – and you start the process of making little incisions around 3/4 of the way up, evenly spaced apart. This is very therapeutic, and a great chance to enjoy a cup of tea, chat, or just enjoy a bit of quiet, crafty meditation time! To speed the process up a bit, you can double or quadruple each streamer up so each incision cuts through 2 or 4 layers of the crepe streamer.

      4. Gluing

We used our very handy craft glue gun to then make a thin strip of glue along the top of the streamer (the side that has no incisions) and then gently glue the streamer, little by little to keep it straight, around the box. You don’t NEED a glue gun (although we highly recommend you get one if you love to make stuff), you can use any clear, liquid paper glue. And then you keep going until your box is covered. It is a little of love labor, but oh so worth it!

    5. Download Free Label

Then, click on the button below to download your FREE Piñata Gift Box Tag! The text we chose was ‘muchos gracias’ to be used as a party favor tag, but you can edit it if you want to use this design for something else! It’s super cute, with doily garland and two different cactus designs, and you can print 12 on a letter page!

     6. Delight People!

Then all that’s left to do is get some ribbon, twine or string and pop the tag around the box, and bask in the delight of those you are giving to.

Happy Piñata Box Crafting!

Love,

Lou
