Q: What’s better than a really good chocolate brownie? Soft, slightly gooey, fresh and chocolatey?
A: NOTHING!
So, here is a recipe, a recipe you need to treasure, cherish and keep close by at all times! It’s the mother of all chocolate brownie recipes, iced with FUDGE FROSTING! Use it, and use it well my friends!
And to make it even more fun? Decorate with fondant googly eyes and orange, yellow and brown M & M’s, like a witch’s brew, with a few eyes of newts floating about! Yummmmmyyyyyyyyyyy!

Witch’s Brew Brownies
Description
The most delicious, more-ish brownies with fudge frosting! Lip smackingly good! Make them Halloween-ish
Ingredients
Brownies
- 1 cup butter
- 2 cups brown sugar
- 6 heaped tablespoons cocoa
- 1 tsp salt
- 1tsp vanilla essence
- 4 eggs
- 1 cup cake flour
Fudge Frosting
- 6 tablespoons butter, softened
- 2–2/3 cups icing sugar
- 1/2 cup cocoa
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- Splash of boiling water
Instructions
Brownies
- Preheat the oven to 180 degrees Celsius
- Melt the butter on the stove, remove from heat and add remaining ingredients and mix well.
- Pour mixture into greased rectangular dish (roughly 30 x 30cm) cake pan and bake for 15-20 minutes.
- Remove from oven and cool.
Fudge Icing
- In a large bowl, cream butter and icing sugar until light and fluffy.
- Beat in cocoa and vanilla.
- Add enough hot water until the frosting achieves spreading consistency.
- Spread over brownies.
- Cut into bars.
- Decorate with fondant googly eyes and orange/ yellow/ brown M&M’s
