You may remember seeing another army party featured on our blog not too long ago but boys will be boys, and Lou’s are no exception! Last year Oliver requested an army party to celebrate his birthday and this year Thomas followed suit. Except, of course, we had to do a little redesign to make it feel like a very different party. And you can let us know what you think, but we think its got a much more “grown-up” look suitable for a 12-year-old tween.
Printable Army Party Invitations
When you’re planning an Army party, the invitations are a great place to start. Our army party invitations feature a dark green camo border, tanker, grenade and military vest to set the scene, the perfect way for Thomas to call in the troops. Because they’re editable, you can include all the pertinent party details such as the date, time and location of the party. You may also want to include an RSVP date so you can get a head count for how many soldiers you’ll be catering for.
Once you have the invitations taken care of, it’s time to start thinking about decorations. For an Army-themed party, you’ll want to go with green, brown and black colors. You can even get creative and make some camouflage-patterned pennants to hang up around the party area.
Printable Army Party Decorations
To get the party started, hang our editable army party banner at the entrance of your event space or to frame the party table. We set the scene with a printable camo backdrop to make it look extra rugged and barracks-like.
Next, it’s time to decorate the table. Cover it with a green, brown or black tablecloth and arrange party snacks by propping them up on boxes and using containers of varying sizes. Our Thomas wanted it to look authentic, not cutesy, so we designed very simple camo printable food labels with a military-style typeface. We’ve made punny suggestions of what to call your snacks (ammo, missiles, grenades etc) but because they’re editable you can name them whatever you’d like.
We find adding printable directional signs to our party setups a really fun addition because they can help set the tone. Our army party directional signs come in a variety of shapes and sizes to create an authentic army feel and let the troops know where they’re headed.
Activities and Games
While of course, the majority of the party activities included plenty of outdoor playtime, a word search is also a fun addition to the party lineup. Our army party word search features army-themed words the troops will need to hunt down as quickly as they can!
Menu Ideas
No Army party would be complete without food fit for a soldier! Serve up some green candy “ammunition”, chocolate ball “grenades” or peanut brittle “ammo.”
Of course, no party is ever complete without cake so we decorated a delicious chocolate cake with rustic green frosting and chocolate shavings. To finish it off, we added our printable army party topper which includes a tent, banner, soldiers and vest.
Take Home Gifts
After completing their mission, it’s no doubt the troops will be tired! We put together a fun little army party survival kit for each party guest in a fishing bait box. Inside we included a bunch of yummy treats and a joke card. We finished them off by securing with string and adding a survival kit label and a printable dog tag featuring the birthday boy’s credentials.
If you’d prefer to keep it simple with a treat bag or some kind of toy as a party favor, you can use our army party favor tags to thank the troops for reporting for duty.
An army-themed party is a perfect way to let kids have some fun and engage in creative play. We hope that these tips for setting up such a party encouraged you to come up with your own ideas and plan the ultimate battle camp! Don’t forget to get everyone to join forces, coordinate their uniforms with matching accessories, bring out all of their favorite toy guns or swords, and arm everyone with enough snacks for an energized group of little soldiers. With these steps, you will be ready for battle in no time!
