There is something so pure and magical about the absolute love that little girls often have for horses and ponies. It is just like that for Cath’s little Sophia. Nothing could make her happier than just being next to a horse or pony – that’s her happy place!
So, the obvious choice for her 5th birthday party was to go all out with a really pretty horse party. A girly horse party, with lots of pink and flowers and starring the beautiful equine creatures! Is it possible to be rustic and pretty and girly all at the same time? Hell yeah!
So, we introduce the beautiful Rainbow, the name Sophia gave the horse who stars in this party décor, and on top of her cake, and in her heart!
Rustic, Natural, Girly, Pretty – All In One!
This was such fun to create, combining flowers, burlap, hay bales, party printables and crafting printables all in one! Giddyup!
Let’s start with the cake. We kept it simple, and natural for the horse party. A peach-colored naked sponge, on a beautiful, raised white platter (always makes the world of difference). A version of Rainbow, proudly standing on top, and stunning fresh flowers to bring in that feminine touch! The best bit? The prettiest, dinky mini cake bunting featuring flowers and horses, of course!
And on to the cupcakes. Are these not just the prettiest horse cupcake wrappers and toppers you have EVER seen? They are editable, so you can put your own age number or message, with soft pink candy stripe wrappers. Hay bales were an absolute must for this party, and look fabulous in the photos.
And on to the food! If you’ve read our blog before, you will know that we just love to create food labelsthat have theme-relevant names. Try it, it is such fun! And all these food label designs are editable so you can go wild creating the coolest food names. Or use these ones if you want to!
Cake pops can be hard when you have a whole party to arrange, so we had a local baker make these. In green, with cute little fondant leaves, to create an Apple Orchard of deliciousness. We used a lot of burlap in the detail of the party décor, as you will see, to bring that lovely natural, rustic feel into the décor.
What do you need when you are riding out on the range? A bit of trail mix of course! Note the burlap, and some old horseshoes to keep the theme alive at every turn!
So there’s nothing rustic about these ‘Dismount Donuts’. All I can say is that they were a real hit with the guests!
A couple of jars of ‘Saddle Up Sweets’, just in case you needed to go for a ride! By the way, we did have a real, live pony giving rides at the party. Sophia’s best thing EVER!
And we couldn’t resist calling the lemonade the ‘Watering Hole’, with its own drinks label. It was the perfect opportunity!
Water never looked quite so pretty!
And on to the activities and favors!
This is the ULTIMATE party favor AND activity. A gorgeous hobby horse, for gallivanting around on while waiting for your pony ride, or any time at all in fact! These are really gorgeous to make, with our template (you can print and cut or use a cricut machine) and assemble with dowel sticks, some pretty pink rope for reins and these gorgeous cut out flowers. The printable comes with detailed instructions. An editable favor tag completes this most popular of party favors!
Being a very girly horse party, the girls just LOVED their ‘Grooming Yard’, a little station to sit down, hang your reins up and get some pampering! Pink nail polish was the most popular – go figure!
OK, I think I was wrong when I said the hobby horse was the best party favor ever! It’s a toss up between that, and this GORGEOUS little milk carton stable! You can have such fun – edit with your munchkin’s name, print the template, with it’s very clear scoring and gluing lines and instructions, and assemble. It’s just soooooooo dinky and cute!
Letting your guests know where to go is imperative, and of course helps to set the theme from the start. These directional party signs are editable and add that lovely design touch.
A birthday banner to mark the occasion – you can edit as many panels as you like to read the birthday girl’s name or a ‘Happy Birthday’ message.
In case you can’t find any of the ‘real’ kind, we created some gorgeous flower horseshoe cut-outs, for good luck!
Happy 5th Birthday to Sophia! It was a very tired birthday girl who gently drifted into horsey dreamland that night!
If you love this horse party theme as much as Sophia did, (and we did) then you can purchase the whole set right here!
